Our History
The desire to impart the present and future generations of young people in Africa inspired the founders of the KnowlegdeHouseAfrica also known as the ITelligence Foundation to combine resources to start and establish the organisation in 2003.
Olutuase O.A, a computer scientist who was the founding president of the InfoTech Corps and Akanni Olukayode, a mechanical engineer and also the Director for DesignIT Project have both been active participants in the youth coalition of the World Summit on Information Society project in Nigeria. They both graduated from the University of Ibadan, the Premier University in Nigeria. They both have the desire to sacrificially impart knowledge to others.
In September 2003, the duo met to plan and strategize organising an Information & Communication Technology Empowerment Conference for Youths in the University of Ibadan. They were later joined by young professionals of like mind in subsequent planning meetings. This meetings eventually gave birth to the ITelligence Foundation which later became known as the KnowledgeHouseAfrica.
The team was inspired by the words of Prof Manny Aniebonam, the President of the Nigeria IT Professional in America, who challenged the Nigerian Youths in attendance during the 2003 Conference of the Nigeria Computer Society to 'get organized'. Mr. Chris Uwaje, the then President of Information Technology Association of Nigeria (ITAN) also encouraged the team founders to constantly position themselves by preparing for the knowledge economy. Engr. Titi OmoEttu gave the team the first opportunity to express themselves when he provided the facilities to organise the first Nigeria Youth Open Source Forum in Executive CyberShuul.
The KnowledgeHouseAfrica have grown in leaps and bounds since her inception. Efforts was made to reach a goal of empowering more than a thousand people in Africa by December 2005, this goal was achieved. Young people and women are being touched all over Nigeria by the team. The Team served as the Nigeia Co-cordinator for the just concluded Rural Youth National Campaign on the Information Society (RYNICS) for the Youth Caucus of the World Summit on the Information Society(WSIS).
